i want to set my winch up so that it can be mounted on the front or the rear. and i was wondering if i used regular welding cable (0 gauge) if would be too heavy of a wire. would too big off a wire cause any problems
You can't go too big. Bigger is better in this case. The only way to get into trouble is going too small.
You need to figure the peak draw of the winch in amps, and then size the wire accordingly. O guage sounds like it would be big enough. I don't have my charts with me, but I think OO guage was good for around 400 amps. I seem to remember 2 guage was good for about 100 amps. I am guessing O guage is around 250 amps?
