I have a 3G Alternator I got out of a Lincoln for a project, and would like to replace the regulator & brushes which seems easy since they attach from the back cover with some screws. I figure like most alternators, I'll need to use pins or paperclips to hold the brushes in place while reinserting the parts that slide back in. At least that's the way it seems looking at it while assembled under a 500W halogen worklight
I'd like to take the case itself off so I can clean it up and paint it, but before I zap out all the nuts, screws, and bolts I figured I'd ask if there is a write-up that anyone knows of that would give me a step by step, preferably with pictures. Combed the internet to no avail...
I need to prime it with an aluminum-compatible primer, then paint it a machinery type "Ford Tractor Blue" not that it matters lol
