the adjuster called me today. the estimate from him (they do their own adjusting) was ~$5500. thats before he figured in 2 rims, at $215/rim and 2 tires at $160/tire. the guy i'm getting to do the work said he can fix it all back to mint and get me a real cowl hood for ~$3000 max, if no frame needs pulling. any pulling needs doing, or trouble matching paint body shop man just has to call and they'll send more money to paint it all. i think i'll get it all painted, to make sure it matches. i'mma gonna add-a-leaf up front, and blocks in back to raise er up 2 inches all around, and trim bumper and then get all 16x10 rims and mount my 265's on that to brute it up a bit more to match that cowl hood. may get a push bar too, and would like to go with a 1.00 housing.
if you need an axle anyway why not use your extra cash to get a Dana 60? also not sure what size your tires are but if they are 265/75's then they won't look very good on 10 inch wide wheels. but other than that sounds like a plan!! Glad to hear you can get her fixed up.
i agree the 265's wont look right if you can even get the beads to seat on a 10 inch rim. a 315 75 16 (35 12.5) would fit perfect on a 16x10. but if i remember your truck isnt lifted so i think neal runs a 295.........50 or 60 series? they are about 10 inches wide and near stock height. those should work too, perhaps he will read in soon
the guy at the tire shop says he puts 265's on 10" rims all the time and it looks ok. he says since mine are 10 ply load range E's that they are 10" wide. i measured 9.75 across the tread, but he says they are 10" at the bead
Axle (hub to hub), springs, steering from pitman arm to knuckles, trac bar and bracket, front driveshaft and yoke from t-case. I think the brake calipers are the same between the 50 and 60 but not certain.
you can swap a complete rotor to rotor dana 60 for $1000 need front springs, you won't need a adda leaf, track bar bracket and track bar, calipers are the same just did it on my f250, got a good deal at $500 for everything
but idealy the 315's are a perfect fit on a 10 inch rim. the tread sits perfectly flat and sidewalls are nice and perpendicular. a 265 would be bulged the wrong way on a 10 inch rim and i really thikn they wouldnt wear properly.
305\70\16's are the widest to fit perfectly on stock wheels. you should have a slight bulge from your sidewalls out to your tread but not much.
