when you got over a speed bump or a large bump in the road that compresses the front suspention it makes a click-clunk sound everytime. i was told that these have a sway bar problem were it hits the frame, but i cant see anywhere its doing that. anyother ideas like ball joints or wheel bearings, how do i check those?
I recently replaced the sway bar bolts that connect it to the A frame. Its a fairly easy job. I'll bet thats where your "clunk" is coming from. As mentioned, just chekc the ends of your sway bar. Best luck....
Everyone is telling you to check all the right things. Check them all. Also look for anything left under the hood, look for anything moving around... If it is a 4X4 the ball joints are a pain.
I'm a relative nuby to DIY, but I recently fixed a similar problem. Just drive up on some ramps and from under the vehicle look in line with the wheels., you should see two staight shafts that look like mini struts/shocks. Check to see if they are loos or worn. I puchased a front end repair kit from Autozone for $20 and did the repair for myself in about 1/2 hr, no knocking since then, but I still have other suspension issues to resolve later.

ok the wife went through knee surgery so i just got back to this but i figured it out. i was tightening the sway bar mounts when i noticed the p/s upper shock bushing was gone. i dont know how i missed it before (the shocks was the first thing i looked at) but never the less i didnt notice till now. so I went ahead and replaced the stock shocks (at 125k) and the noise is gone and the ride is smoother, should have done this along time ago.
