This is my first post and I'm a little green to this so please bear with me. Here's my problem. The car was running like a top, as always, night before last. The car sat in the driveway until last night. We all loaded up to go to town. Just as we pulled out onto the road it started skipping and the service engine soon light came on. So we pulled back into the driveway. This morning I limped it a few miles to the local Autozone to get the codes read. Here's what I got--po300 (random misfire) and po308 (#8 cylinder misfire). Could someone PLEASE point me in the right direction on where to go from here. This is very dissapointing. I'm on a VERY tight budget and will have to do as much of the work as possible. Any info will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.
it sounds like number eight cop i would swap number eight and one of the front cops around drive it back over and get it scaned again and see if the problems moves to that cylinder if so replace the cop. forgot to mention check for water dripping on number eight causing it to fail
Thanks for the quick replies. As soon as I get time I am going to switch #8 with a front one. I will post back with the results. Thanks again.
Same exact thing and codes happened to me. Thought it was the COP so I went and bought one. After I changed it still same problem. I pulled the plug and it was bad. Did a total spark plug change and all is well.
I would pull the plug and check before you buy a COP.
It is probably the c.o.p. I got a set of 8 on ebay for $120.00, if you change your plugs DO NOT USE BOSCH SPARK PLUGS!!!! they are junk and will give you starting problems.
Hey guys, check this out! My brother-in-law had a friend that had the same problems with his Exp. He gave him a call and found out that he had 4 spare coils in his garage plus another complete engine. Since they are such good friends he said we could get what we needed free of charge! We pulled the COP and the plug. The plug was in great shape so we exchanged the COP and so far everything is back to normal! I'm so happy (my wife is to)! The only thing I had to buy was a tube of dielectric grease. Thanks so much for the help and support.
