Can anyone tell me if the fuel injection system from an 89 460 will work with older heads and block (70's). I want to convert my motor and could get everything to do it, mass air, ecm, distributor, etc. Can it be done?
If I remember correctly someone on the forum here mentioned that the carburated intake manifolds don't line up with the EFI manifoilds. Thus you would need EFI heads to get the EFI intake runners to line up. And California trucks are the only ones that ever had a 460 MAF system. All others were speed density.
A while back I was doing a long block re/re on a 460. The parts supplier gave me efi intake gaskets by mistake, and they would not work with the ealier heads in fact the intake ports where not the same shape Eric
I asked this question before and recieved some conflicting answers. Some said it wouldn't fit at all and some said it would with just some porting ofthe heads. I have a fuel injection intake but haven't taken my engine apart yet to see how they match up. From the outside they look the same. I plan on using the mustang 5.0 computer with larger injectors to run mine. That way you get mass-air and it isn't batch fire (all the good stuff) Send me an email at dfaylor@kconline and we can compare notes on this if you want.
