I have a 2004 ford supercab short bed xlt sport. It currently has 265/70/16 bf goodrich all terrain tires and look small on my truck. My spring code is XXX with a 2 inch rear add a leaf in the rear. I believe the x code spring are stock on all sport packege truck and my trucks sits up signifigantly higher than most f250 on the road. I want to put 315/70/16 pro comp xterrains on my stock wheels stock suspension. I searched before and it siad thta it could be done with no clear anwsers. My question is this could the tires be put on my stock rims with little to know rubbing on my leafs springs. Thanks for everything
I have 315/75/16 Toyo Open Country ATs on my '03 Sport F250 SCSB. There is just a tiny bit of rub at full lock on the rear side of the fender splash shield. This is on 8" wide Ultra wheels, not sure of the backspacing. Honestly, I think they're a bit big for stock suspension as I really HATE tire rub. Get some 295/75/16s and I think you'll be very happy. Also, the sports didn't have a special spring that I know of, mine sits the same height in the front as my dad's '03 XLT F350. Is it possible a previous owner did a front spring upgrade?
I put 315/75/16s on my 99 with a stock suspension and stock wheels. It worked just fine. Also did it on my 03. No problems. There was only a little rubbing on the leaf spring at full lock. Not bad and never hurt the tire. A leveling kit would look real nice with 35s. Good luck.
You see the way I figure it is the x code spring yield 2 inches of lift because the springs are meant for heavy diesels with plows. I know it makes my v8 gas motor and no plow makes my truck ride really rough because it doesnt have the weight to compress the spring enough to make the truck ride better. I feel that a leveling would actually not yield me any lift and that th rear add a leaf lifted the entire truck some also. I am hoping to keep this set up until summer until I put a leveling kit and 35's with aftermarket wheels. Thanks for everything
