I talked to a guy the other day who had 315 75 16 tires on his stock premium rims. I was wondering if anyone else had done this and if they had any problems? He said he had to spot weld a washer so the tires would not rub the leaf spring. Do you guys think I could put 305's on my stock rims w/o any rubbing.
just talked with the local tire shop here, NW OR, Les Schwab. They would go as big as the 295 on the stock rims. Even then they said I might have vibrations and I should be aware of that. They also said they might not wear perfectly. I picked the 305s and they didn't want to put those on the stock rims though. I am sure it could be done, and I am sure somebody here has done it, but I chose not to.
For tires that big they recommend that you use an 8" wide rim. Ford factory rims are 7". Some people do go ahead and do this but to me it is not worth my 35K dollar truck if they don't hold like they would on an 8" rim. I would only consider going to a 285 or maybe a 295. That is just my opinion though.
I put a set of BFG All Terrians 295/75R16 on the stock rims. About 2,500 miles on them and no problems. I know another guy that did the same thing. Seems fine. Only thing to watch is the speedo.

315's require a 16x10 rim - 10 inches wide. Anything smaller causes irregular wear on the tire and reduces it's life.
You can put them on 16x8's, but they will "cup" pretty bad, plus they just don't look right.
I just put new ones on my F350 with a 2.5 " front leveling kit - with 16x8's the tires did not rub at all. With the current 16x10's, the tires look much much better , but I did have to do some slight cutting on the inside of the fender - it's all plastic and I just had to take off about 7 inches of it plus a little "slice" off the front corner of that plastic air-dam.
I too went thru Les Schwab here in the NW (ID) and they won't even mount them on the stock Ford wheel's - they are way to narrow.
Superv10....Do you have the Ford 4" blocks in back?? I have seen a few trucks around here that sit like yours and decided that is how I want mine to sit. What kind of leveling kit do you have?? Your truck gets

I can testify to this. I have 315's on my stock rims & just pulled them off to rotate and the front tires are worn so unevenly that is was causing the truck to shake bad at low speeds. I only have about 15,000 miles on them & some places have 90% tread and others have about 50%

Why thank you CB!!
Yes, I have the 4" blocks in back - I put the 2.5" leveling kit up front which made it set pretty even. It has since dropped about 1/4 inch to where it is as you see it in the pictures... I like it right where it is as it fits in the garage with about 1/2 inch to spare...:-
