i got my tymar intake, downpipe, and stacks. everything is on except for the downpipe. i was wondering how far the firewal had to be pushed back. and just how many times and where i need to cut the downpipe. thanks
I just did mine over the weekend. I cut it in two places; underneath as far forward as I could, and at the top as low as I could (which wasn't very low). After you cut it off under the truck you can push it up some to cut off more up above. I recommend getting the longest metal cutting saw blades you can find. I think the ones i had were about 6-8 inches and that didn't seem long enough, maybe i'm just lazy and/or old. I had the top almost all the way cut and couldn't seem to get the rest. I was going to go to the store to get longer blades and said "ah %$@# it, and used the torch to cut it the rest of the way off. I don't recommend this as you can do damage to the heat sheilding on the firewall (i'm not saying that's what happened but maybe it did). Someone said a plasma cutter does the trick nicely. I just didn't have it in me this weekend to convince my wife I needed one.
The Further back you can get the fire wall the better. I thought I had it enough, got the new pipe hooked up, but when I went out on the road the entire cabin had a bad vibration. Needless to say i had to pull the darn thing out and redo it. If you are lacking a port-a-power, i ended up using a small screw jack off my wife's camry, wedged in between the bell housing and the seem. Put a ratchet on that bad boy and whatch out. Cutting wasn't that bad. one at the top dropped it almost to the ground, and one more underneath and it was out. Good Luck

i used the plasma cutter, be careful around the firewall because i just might have burned a bit of it aswell!
