the weep hole will show fluid when the water pump is bad.
you should have purchased the 160 alt from rjm as well. its a far better product to that autozone pos altenator. I know the guy that runs that site, ive been an fsb for awhile now

Yeah I know, but there are reasons I didn't like want the truck downed waiting for it to be shipped and like now yeah it was bad but again I have a new one in hand ready to go. I just didn't plan on having to do the alt, water pump and AIR pump all at the same time.
I did the same thing with the radiator bought it local and it wasn't that much difference after shipping.
You are not going to like my suggestion for monetary reasons. If you are changing the water pump also do the timing chain set if it has 120-150K miles. Just a LITTLE heat helps get the bolts loose. I was shocked at the improvement it made. And.....while everything is out is out do the fan clutch as they gradually get worse. Your A/C may work much better in addition to better engine and tranny cooling.
b4hntn your right I didn't like your suggestion.
Its not that I don't like it really it is a monetary thing.
As I was only out of work for 3 weeks the gross a mount
I recieved from unemployement was almost as much as my
bring home is which put me way behind.
The odometer only reads 70k but I am guessing it is 170k given
all the crap I've put on so far.
It isn't my daily driver so I can down it whenever I need or want to.
Iwould much rather do what you said but not now.

if you are doing the water pump it will be more cost effective to replace it. its only like $40 for the timing kit and front cover kit. If chain breaks it will cost more if the valves bend in the head. I am also on unemployment i can understand what you are going through.

Where in Baltimore?
I don't know what timing set your looking at but I did look into it and a Cloyes True Roller is the lowest I would put in unless your thinking is any new is better than old.
Got it all apart yesterday, and probably could have been on the way back except I got a late start finding a propane heater for the garage.
Now I'm just trying to figure out how to clean it up before I get it back together again.
I'm half tempted to start it up pull it out and pressure washer wash it, but I'm afraid I won't be able to get it back in.

If I'm at work I usually go to Auto Zone or I can also go to about 3 other places. At home I have Advance, Advance,Napa, and a few smaller places I don't get good discounts at. I have know problem with their parts but I'm not putting a 40 dollar timing set in.
Its almost back together now. It would have been done but I couldn't stand bending over anymore and my wife isn't home so I had to knock off to mess with the dogs so they will sleep tonight ultimately allowing me to sleep.
