powerglide was a great dragstrip tranny. Only 1 shift.
Anyway back on topic, Lucas electrical system from an old MG.
Add in a distributor in from an LT1. I used to have a cadi fleetwood, '96 with an LT1 and the waterpump, fan, readiator etc. had to be removed to change the distributor cap.
89 Taurus. I had one of those and went thru the entire fuel system many times. It vapor locked all the time when it was as cool as 70 degress outside. Once a 50cent tranny line fitting blew at night, so I didn't notice tranny fluid on the back window. Burnt the tranny that time. Biggest POS I ever owned.
My parents had a 95 Taurus that did the same thing. I can't remember how many times it vapor locked even when it wasn't "hot" outside. Mostly if it was over an hour trip. It loved fuel pumps too, and had head gasket issues (what 3.8 didn't though?) I still liked that car though. Had the coldest a/c I've ever been around.
As for just what was mentioned here, I agree on pretty much all of it. Never knew of a problem with Explorer trannys though. Dodge interiors are the worst! I'll admit they have improved some though. Ford did have paint troubles too, about the same time as everybody else.
How about an S10 front end? I can't count how many ball joints and wheel bearings I've put in them.
Nope, not a powerslide, the two speed Ford auto tranny that came in my 170/6 powered '63 Ford Falcon. Not a bad looking car, but slower than a snail on crutches...
Any early 80's GM electrified carburetor on top of a Yugo motor, Taurus transmission, 1970's GM sheetmetal, Hyundai interior, old Dodge electrical system with the big ballast resistor, Renault suspension, with a Pinto gas tank and a K-car convertible top, a Geo Metro crash rating and just about any part off of an 80-something S-10/Blazer.
Cause I think a Geo woud be easier to find parts for. GM was in kahoots with Geo, but I still don't know where Yugos were sold??? I think they just showed up one day, like a virus.

a yugo is a russian car. To add to the list of crap are. any new body style 00 and up celica. 2 blown oil pumps first one caused rod bearings and mains to take a crap, after rebuild no more than 30 minutes into running second oil pump broke lucky it somehow did not put metal through the system again. also any older nissan pathfinder or 3.0 toyota v6 and any front wheel drive cadillac water pumps pain in the *** to change, new ones require a special tool with a o ringed water pump that you press on and turn to lock it in setup. don't know what gm was thinking then. how about the nice 6.0's as well with their blown headgaskets and the 5.4 with headgasket problems as well then you have to pull the cab on both just to easily access the heads. not a big deal just a pain.
oh how about a ford fmx tranny biggest pos tranny besides stock e40ds

Yep, then behind the water pump there is what's called the water pump housing that bolts to the block. If those gaskets start leaking, have fun! Thank god the surfaces were easy to clean because I couldn't find a way to get the housing out of the car without another day's worth of work.
I fought an 80's Cadillac water pump also; found out after 3 tries that you MUST tighten the bolts in sequence or the gasket will tear and it will leak.
I would never own a Cadillac, at least not from the 80's-up.
Through early production of the model, it became a focus of a major scandal when it was alleged that the car's design allowed its fuel tank to be easily damaged in the event of a rear-end collision which sometimes resulted in deadly fires and explosions. Critics argued that the vehicle's lack of a true rear bumper as well as any reinforcing structure between the rear panel and the tank, meant that in certain collisions, the tank would be thrust forward into the differential, which had a number of protruding bolts that could puncture the tank. This, and the fact that the doors could potentially jam during an accident (due to poor reinforcing) made the car a potential deathtrap.

Also, the Northstar Engines are damn near un-rebuildable. Cadillac engineers thought it would be a good idea to make an all-aluminum engine and and not put steel helicoil threads in the block. Take the heads bolts off, and you destroy the threads.
