I'm trying to find out where I can get a new or used chip for my '01 at an affordable price. I'd like the DP but don't have the money right now. I used to use the 10k mod and liked it but it stopped working when I put the new icp in.
Why not send your PCM off to jody and have him flash it with the 80Economy tune on it? It's alot cheaper than getting a chip and the 80E tune is the most versatile of the tunes and if you liked the 10K mod, you will absolutely LOVE the it. That is of course assuming that you have an improved intake and guages at bare minimum. If not you don't want a chip yet. Save your money and do it right or don't do it at all.
HKusp I knew what you meant. A lot of other people have done it backwards. Chip 1st then the guages when they could afford them. That is definetely NOT the way to do it.
I actually drive around town with the 60 tow more than I do with the 80E, seem to get a few more miles between fill ups. I don't have the 80tow but wonder if it would yield similar results.
If i were you, i'd get 80tow on a $75 PCM flash. If you can resist the temptations and limit it to only 10-15 second bursts at WOT to get the cobwebs blown out, but otherwise drive like any other civil human being in a toyota, then you don't really need gauges. I don't actually need any of the gauges i have, i never let out of the throttle if i do see the EGT go past 1400*. It takes a hell of a long time in the danger zone to even begin hurting anything, so the gauges are simply there to watch them move around, and the assurance you're not hurting it.
