well me and my buddy are going to turn my fuel up another flat to see what happens im just worried about blowing my motor up not by melting it tho i have a pyro i was just going to stay around 1100 at most im just wanting to know has anyone blew up there motor due to to much power?? i know about melting and stuff tho
yeah i havea 3 inch intake with a cone filter 3in dowpipe to 4 in exhaust i only see like 850-900 i never hold my truck to the floor tranny cant shift 1-2 real well and 2-3 soo i let up usally lol ssoo but i only seen 1000 at the most towing im higher but i just want to see what happens if i turn the fuel up its in the y pipe i know its isnt the perfect location but like i said i let off alot? and i dont tow til summer.... (boat)
and i run 12 psi ive seen as high as 15 soo i mean it should blow it out pretty quick right? i figure like 1/2 to 1 flat more i just really want more fuel at less pedel soo it shifts sooner with more power i dont like when it gets to 2800 and over and it doenst seem to move till it get up there i think it shifts tooo late i think less rpms at and a little more fuel would get better milage cuz it aint dumping the same amount of fuel tryin to spin the motor at 3000 rpms there some logic to that if you think about it ?? lol i dont know im a crazy 21 year old lol
Sounds to me like you need to get your Fuel Injector Lever Postion sensor adjusted for the shifting problem. With key on engine off, with a small probe run in along side the middle wire on the connector should read 1.1 volts- steady increase as you open the fuel lever, no dead spots, until you reach wide open throttle. It should read between 3.8 and no more than 4.3 volts at that point.
mines at 1.2 somthing right now cuz i had it at like .08 to see if i could get it to shift sooner but it started slipping soo i bumpd it up to 1.2-1.3 but my tranny is basecally shot but sence i turned up the pump it feels pretty good today sept when i keep it to the floor wont shift 1-2 and 2-3 real good it sits at 3200 rpms for a bit lol and you feel it shifts it just sits there i turned it up a flat if nto a little more today now im hittin 950-1000 lol feels damn quick
At that location you should be OK to run 1150 or so.
When the thermocouple is after the turbo is when the big temp change has to be taken into consideration.
A pyrometer reading 900 degrees after the turbo would be 1200 degrees at the exhaust manifold on average.
Good luck with your tranny, sounds like you are going to need it.
how much have you turned up the pump total? i know a guy who will rebuild your transmission and do all the good upgrades and put in a billet converter he'll also put all the electronic settings where they need to be for around $1,500. and that includes him pulling it out and reinstalling!! i'm having my 94 crew cab 7.3 turbo idi e4od beefed up for that price. my trans is fine but i do a lot of heavy hauling so it's just peace of mind for me. have you upgraded the stock transmission cooler?
lol i dont know when i got the new motor they said its turned up to max settin with boost and fuel which is true when im towing and all but i dont tow all tha tmuch i will just watch the pyro but im guessin 2 1/2
