hi, i have a 93 F-350 with a melted light switch which overheats when i turn my brights on. i was going to take the switch out of my wrecked 91 but its also melted so I'm guessing this is a common problem. the wiring harness connector is also melted so i need to know how/where do i get parts to fix this. thanks in advance.
It is a common problem, and any local parts store will be glad to sell you a new switch and a new connector with short pigtail wires coming out of it that you have to splice in. If the demand is there, they will make it and sell it.
They will also sell you a
new gas tank
new frame brackets for the rear springs
new parking brake cables
new tumbler and keys for the ignition
new linkage piece for inside the column if you have tilt wheel
new front driveshaft
new fangled rear wheel seal when the original keeps leaking
if you want to do more to it, you can search "headlight relay upgrade" and you'll find some info on how to take the real load off of the switch. some people sell kits for it, i've always just done the job with what i had on hand.
