For years I have replaced the shocks for my crown vics and towncars with the best Monroe shock I could buy and was always very pleased with the improvement in ride quality and handling-firmer and more responsive.
Recently I replaced the OEM shocks for my 03 F-250 4x4, V-8 Gas, with camper package with monroe reflex and am extremly disappointed. The highway ride is softer and the handling in curves and steering around debris in the road is horrible-constantly requiring over-correcting. To be honest, I liked the OEM shocks better.
I can't live with the Monroe reflex anymore and from what I have learned on this forum, the Bilstein HD would be a good, simple choice. Truck is stock and I plan to keep it that way.
I too want to put these on my truck. They are preferred by the majority of people on this site and others sites as well. They are somewhat pricey but I guess you get what you pay for. Look around on the internet. I've seen then for $260 and up for a set a of four. I just wish they would come in better colors.
Good luck.

i have had outstnding results {100,000 miles and still workingg fine} with the super rancho ajustables. expensive but worth every cent. just start off with the adjustments on the softest setting. they are like a ridged suspension on the hardest setting.
the rancho OEM shocks are not the same as the adjustables im talking about. they are not much better than the standard oem shocks. they just wear out in 10 miles instead of 2 miles.

A $3 can of spray paint will transform them into any color your heart desires.
