was putting on new belt noticed sensor was broke where plastic meets brass so pulled it off since was i was there put new one in now doesnt work any ideas ?
Yes, the temperature sender that screws into the top of the water pump near the thermostat housing (upper radiator hose outlet) is for the temperature gauge.
My truck's temp gauge didn't work when I bought it. Made the dealer fix it, but the service report said "replaced sender & thermostat". I bought the truck in January, and it took forever to get heat. If you have that problem, you might check the 'stat, too. If it's stuck open, the large cooling system will keep the engine from warming up much (especially in winter!).
Today it was about 23* when I left the house. Now, my truck is garage kept, but I still let it sit in the driveway for about 5-10 mins to warm up. EBPV closed, and by the time I got in and started on the way, I already had some heat.
dont think its thermostat it was 18 here this morning and i always warm it up about 15 mins and has great heat so ill try new sensor maybe got bad one also should i unhook batteries to reset anything thanks charlie
