Whats up guys...I have a 94 f350 with the 351. Every 6 months or so I get a CEL and it's the 126 code for the map sensor...I've put in 3 new map sensors in the past 2 years. Any ideas on what could be causing these sensors to go bad
check the wires/plug to the map sensor. also check the vacuum line to the map. when it comes to stuff like this, there is nothing better than a factory piece. i go to the junk yard for all my electronic needs. theyre a fraction of the price of the china part replacements, but theyre "whole numbers" better than the china parts, despite their age.
the biggest question is, how does the truck run? a bad map sensor can cause all sorts of ill driving symptoms. an intermittent signal from the map causes the computer to run off stored information, and slight drivability issues will result. if there are no symptoms, just keep truckin.
Thanks for the reply...I was thinking cheap parts also, but advance auto is the only thing on this side of town.
As soon as the CEL comes on the truck runs like complete poop...replace the sensor, and it's back to normal. My next trip to the yard I will be on the look out for some OEM back ups... at 44.00 a piece this problem isn't getting any cheaper.
