Hey guys, i need help! my 96 bronco with a 5.0 is sputtering while i drive. and it stalled a couple times. it drives, just it acts up some times. i replaced the spark plugs, and the ignition system seems to be ok. anything i should look for?
what should i trouble shoot???
Thanks a whole lot for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rg , few things i can think of, plug wire crapped out, ignition out of whack(timing),water in your fuel(filter as previously stated)Do pull the codes Good luck TR
And a few bottles of gas line dryer heet and iso heet double or triple dose it.
If you leave it parked for an extended time you could have some gas going bad
anything over 90 days and it is turning, A bit of Sta-bil before you park it will help!!
Un plug mass air when it is acting up-- if it runs fine plug mass air back up and see if it runs bad again. Seen quite a few mass air cause the the probs you are describing LOL Blue
I've been experiencing the same symptoms in my 96 F150 for quite some time now. In mine it seems to act up more on Real hot days. Never in the cold. Also seems to act up just as the temp gauge reaches full temp. It will sputter and choke for about 2-5 minutes then be fine most of the time after that. The gas mileage has also dropped since this all began. I have changed the 02 sensors, cleaned the MAF, took TB off and cleaned that. Fuel filter changed and Tune up. No changes whatsoever. Good luck with yours.
I believe there is a technical service bulletin for this problem.
It had something to do with the TFI modual being too close to the exhaust manifold or something, I believe there may have even been a recall and I'm pretty sure I read Ford got sued for this problem by owners in Florida I think.
Just Google Ford TFI lawsuit and I'm sure you'll find it.
Ford, Love the trucks but not the company so much LOL.
actually the tfi module mounted to the dizzy ended in 92 and then was relocated to the driver side fender well over by the hinge for the hood. the spout connector is also located in this spot
