Question Stalled while driving

I was out running errands in My truck today, when it suddenly sputtered, and died as I was driving. Just before it died, it sputtered, but I was able to bring it out of it. After it stalled,I pulled onto a side street, and restarted it. All was fine after this happened. Sputtered one other time this morning, but I was able to keep it running.

Fuel filter is about 2 months old, and carb was gone thru in January this year.

What is wrong? Before, and after this happened it was running flawlessly

1. Are you sure there's gas in the tank?
3. How old is the fuel pump?
4. What kind of engine are we working with?

I would check the vacuum lines, as a vacuum leak will make the engine die at red lights or when you take your foot off the gas.
Next, I would check the battery and alternator. I actually had a bad alternator earlier this year that drained the battery and had the engine dying occasionally as I drove.

I forgot to add, has newer 7 month old alternator and battery less than 2 months old. No charging issues,as charge light never came on at any time.

I am not sure about that, I have been driving it for almost a year, and have had zero problems. Tank was cleaned, etc before I bought it

If your ignition is Duraspark, the module may be dying, even though only 4 months old, as you stated above. Sometimes, when the module gets hot, it fails and then as it cools, it will work again. Normally, the cycle gets shorter and shorter until it completely dies. Find a good Motorcraft one at the junk yard and swap it out or temporarily swap with a buddy's known good one.

Run her till she develops. Than when it quits altogether ya can trouble shoot it till ya fine the problem.

It could me so many problems it's hard to say. Get to work on it with a volt/ohm meter and a fuel pressure gauge and stuff like that.
In the mean time keep yer cell phone charged for to call for a tow.
Or haul a bike around with ya.

Ya could start throwing parts at her but that can get spendy and still not fix a simple problem.

I do have the original Duraspark module, it was laying behind the seat when I got the truck. This does happen after it has warmed up, so I will have the original one checked, and have as a spare in case I need it.

I've had a few friends with a similar problem. They drove it til it died, then poured some icewater on the DSII box and tried to start it up again. If it started it was the box going bad and replaced it.

I had a bad connection from the ignition box and it would sporadically work. Once I found it, it never happened again.

If ya take the Box in to have it checked, It will most likely test good as it's not hot and will work when cold.
So a Module that is going bad won't test bad. Something to consider.

Last time I had a module checked on a car I used to have, the testing machine got it warmed up as it was checking to simulate it being under hot conditions.. Drove it twice today, didn't miss a beat. So for now I will just monitor it closely

Didn't know that. The last one I remember having tested was prolly close to 20 years ago. Napa didn't have a warmer upper thingy then.
My locale Napa still has the same tester to this day.
