I had to disconect my down pipe at both ends to remove my turbo and noticed its a pretty tight fit. I wanted to push it down to get it at of the way but that would not happen. Since I was abel to get it far enough out of the way I didnt realy look into it. I just orderd a down pipe and I am going to have to remove it.
Am I going to have to breake out the sawsall to get it out? Would that be the easyest way to get it out? I would rather not cut it unless I have to. The pipe I orderd is a two piece so going in should be easyer. I noticed a lot of people wrap there pipes. I guess this is to keep under hood temps down but what dose it do to turbo and engin temps? http://dieselperformanceparts.com/fordalum1.html
Yea i think your def gonna have to break out the sawzall, it's probably the easiest way to get it out. I'm not sure on the wrapping part I didnt wrap mine
I pulled mine in one piece BUT... I had the trans and trans case removed and tiltede the engine so far back I thought it would break the motor mounts and then I still had to beat it out. Do yourself a favor just cut it.
yeah your gonna have to cut it. i used a plasma torch to get mine out, but a sawzall with do just fine. your gonna want to bend the firewall back so the downpipe does not rub against it. i didnt bend mine enough and my truck rattles alot when i'm turning or going up a steep incline.
