Pics of the horrible stock y-pipe and the truck..
The Truck:

The only "mod" so far:

I was under my dad's truck looking at the y-pipe, so I decided to snap a few pics for those who are unfamiliar with its design. I have to say it really is bad, and confusing why Ford did it.
I noticed that the pipes from the stock manifolds are equal length, so I'd imagine this is important to maintain when changing the stock y-pipe, because I know from other cars that equal length primaries to the Y affect the sound of the engine quite a bit (unequal = crappy sound). Any recommendations on fixing this? I've looked at some pics, but I didn't know if there were different ways people have changed it.

Yeah, I just loaded my pics onto the free www.lightbox7.com website and, altho it shrinks them down a bit, it is free.
The y-pipe is horrible, I can't believe they purposely pinch it down to 2" or less for no reason, and the 90 degree angle they join at! Duh Ford!

"Flutter" plagued early V10s.
Ford's response (although stupid in design) worked to virtually eliminate it from later models. The necked down area increases the velocity of the exhaust gas from the right back to prevent the collision of the exhaust pulses at the Y and the noise (flutter) they created.
