These videos are descent, I was a tad perplexed with the amount of farting noise the bullets are making, i think i need to find something that will remove that noise. I have an H pipe. I also still need to figure out how to resize a video that was too long, anyone know how to make a video shorter? Can you guys tell why the hell it would be making that noise? I have gone through three differnt typres muffelrs, going from best to worse lol. I dont know, i think i am goingt to resort to the original 40 series flowmasters again, god its frustrating, i am spending so much money getting this system modified over and over again. Its to bad, these bullets sound mean, and then at the high throttle, it ruins it all with that annoying slapping farting noise. Do you guys know if my new tips will at all change that, and what is exactly causing that?
It’s those big old tips you got there. Just cut those off and it will sound better They distort the sound just to make more noise.
But I'm bias because I hate those things have had several trucks that had them on the exhaust, the first five minutes after coming come the saw-all it taken to them. Just my 2 cents.
the problem is tho, the other tips i have are even longer, but with slash cuts, so i hope that might help. I wont know until there on. Yea i dont mind some farting noise, but it was tothe point where it completely takes over, and it just sounds funky..
IMHO, you need a crossover to help eliminate some of that, but most of it is the glasspacks. And there is little you can do shy of getting rid of the glasspacks. I am not a fan of true duals either, add a crossover or at least an h-pipe. It will take some of the rasp out, and will give you more power. Remind me, what was it you didn't like about the 40 series?
They sound decent but, but I see what you mean about the farting. A longer glasspack of a muffler with a bigger case will help eliminate some of that.
I have true duals (No Cats) with glasspacks (24") on my 74' F-100 302 and I get zero farting. A great sounding exhaust is possible with glasspacks however each vehicle is different due to many variables specific to the particular setup.
What type of cats are you running?
I agree with the crossover pipe. I'd put one on.
You get popping and etc with glasspacks thats just how they are.
If you don't really like the bullets, take a look at the Dynomax Ultra-Flo mufflers. They have fiberglass packing which I like however the case is bigger to help control the farting.
One thing to remember with glasspacks is the tone will change as you put miles on them. The tone usually gets deeper as they age. I'm sure there will be little affect on the bullets however because they don't have much packing.
well I do have an H pipe tho. I got rid of the 44's because they wernt loud enough. Now that i got the loud, i got the popping back...err, i i am not very happy about this. Would straight pipes sound any differnt? I am running Catco's cats. Maybe u guys can help me name some loud ballfed mufflers that mite lead me in the right directions. I just cant stand how the thing i love most about my truck, is the most unfinished sound in the world, i just need some advice to whats going to get me loud and tone

I don't think straight pipes would change the sound much if at all. Those bullets are damn near straight pipes. I guess you have to compramise in one area to have another.
ya i hear you. I am looking for a new sound. I have done flowmasters, now dynomax, how about maganflow? Do they have any mean mufflers that would suit this true dual? I am starting to think alot of my problems derive from this true dual, which i worked so hard to get, and now its the route of my problem. But the best i can do is keep replacing the mufflers until its right.
Heres my brothers Dodge with that Super 44, and it sounds mint!
Magnaflows have Stainless wool packing. The Dynomax Ultra Flo and the Magnaflow are very similar in design however the ultraflo has glass packing.
My dad amd I have almost identical trucks F-250SD w/6.8l he have a Magnaflow I have a similar muffler only mine is a dunomax Ultra flo. My truck has a deeper tone and is louder especially under load. My muffler will still get louder and deeper as it wears in because it don't even have 10k miles on it yet.
Dodges and Chhebbys always have a different sound than Ford. No matter what muffler you put on either they both seem to have the same generic sound. (Chebbys and Dogs) You can tell what make truck it is without seeing it.
Maybe the best thing for you is to just run a muffler you like the sound of and have some sort of remote cutout ofter the cats when you want to be loud.
Much of your problem is with the airflow characteristics of the exhaust at the tips. That slapping sound is partly due to the air turbulence created by them. At some point the exhaust will really slap and the motor will flaten out. Your other focus should be that H-pipe, it is not working as well as needed to balance the sides. The H pipe needs to be rather short. When done well, they allow the glass to sound almost as smooth as turbos.
Larger exhaust pipe is generally louder. You can run a larger size and turn the glass packs backwards to maintain some of the packpressure needed. This usually does well at improving horspower and letting the motor breathe.
I happen to agree with jwtimme. Tips are a waste of time, it sounds just like the thousands of other trucks with tips. It is a shame to see you wasting money being another poser, spend the money on the noise maker. (the engine) . Then you will have the problem of not able to keep it quite enough.
I see you already have a h-pipe. You should try a x-pipe. Might smooth up the sound. I know for a fact if you cut off the tailpipes and add dumps you'll loose that farting sound, but it'll be louder inside the cab. I had true dual dynomax bullets on my 351 and it sounded smooth. Just straight out of the mufflers. If you buy anymore mufflers try out Hooker Aerochamber's.
i like having tips and tailpipes tho, when was that a bad thing to have, its too many times i see guys with trucks going 1/2 way with their exhaust system and leave rusty ugly piping as there tips. ANyway I am just going to live with this because i wont sacrifice the look of nice tips, and and i dont want to dump it exacty..but are u saying by dumping it at the end of the bullets will eliminate all rasp?
