Driving habits has alot to do with it. Not that there's anything wrong with letting the V10 scream now and then, the high RPMs will sometimes show more oil consumption, loaded or unloaded.
If I tow over 12K down the interstate and want to maintain 70 MPH even on the hills, I have to shift to a lower gear. After 150 miles or so, I can see a little drop in oil level. I expect it now after 8 years of doing this. I have 4.30 gears and getting into the 4K's RPMs is not uncommon for long stretches. I have noticed 1 quart used at 3K often doing this and use 5w30 dino.
Mine consistently consumes 3+ quarts every few hundred miles regardless of how I drive it. It might actually have been consuming less when I was towing a load - the heaviest thing I've towed in the last 7 months was a jetski. VERY frustrated at this point.
