Everyones first vehile?
Some of you guys had some seriously cool rides. I was just happy when mine made it to school and back everyday. No girls, not even the real redneck chicks wanted to be seen in mine. My friend Jeff could borrow his moms 442 though... that was the date getter
64 Chevy step side with 3 on the tree. It got 6 years off after high school when I joined the Marines. Then upgraded the motor to a 327 out of a 69 vette and dropped in a tranny from a 68 truck that had full synchros so I could downshift to first without coming to a complete stop.
Then came marriage, family, etc. so it is now sitting next to the barn waiting on my daughter to finish college so I have the money to start playing with it again.

1965 Ford Galaxy 500, 2 door "fastback" 390ci with a "Cruise-O-Matic". Wimbeldon White with a blue interior. My buddies and I all bought our favorite NASCAR body styles from our favorite manufacturer. One had a 69' Charger 383ci, and the other had a 70' Monte Carlo.
First car that was "mine", '63 Ford Galaxie convertable that I got to drive around in the fields and the junkyard of my stepdad's Ford business.
First car that really was mine and that I got to drive on the road was a '63 Fairlane 2 door hardtop with a 260 V8, three speed on the tree with overdrive, medium metallic blue. That car was as clean used car as I'd ever seen, I got it as a trade in from stepdad's dealership. $200.00. No one had ever ridden in the backseat. Since my stepdad was a complete ***, I got free gas on my "West Virginia Credit Card"; 5 gallon can and 5 feet of water hose. Any of the cars that came in to be detailed (my job) they left running on fumes.

70 Chevelle Malibu (original owner car w/ 44k miles) Got it my senior year of high school. Modded it 'til it ran mid 11's in the 1/4 mile. Sold it to help pay for my wedding and new home. My third cousin bought the car. Still sitting in his barn. May have to buy it back someday and restore it.
What a great thread, I have enjoyed reading this one..
Mine was a 1972 Dodge truck 1/2 ton,318 cid,2 barrel,3 on the tree, no powersteering, no power brakes, just a plain truck with a heater and an
am radio. Belonged to my Dad,He bought it brand new in 72. It had 200K on it when he gave it to Me. I put another 50K on it before I quite driving it. Could not tear that truck up or the motor. Used to race everybody in school, They could not beat it.

This is indeed a great thread. Takes me down memory lane. My first was a 1980 Ford F-100 with a 4spd handshaker. Drove the stock 302 into the ground and swapped in a 1985 302HO out of a wrecked Mustang GT and hooked it to a C6 tranny with a hurst ratchet shifter.
My favorite vehicle is the modified 1999.5 F250 I'm driving now. Bought it new and selling it hasn't once crossed my mind. Before this I never owned a vehicle for more than 4 years in a row.
