A 1957 VW, in 1967...I promptly stuck headers, two-barrel Holley (using a homemade adapter) and a supercharger on it...ran J-Gas class at the drags...stripped it down to where every piece of extra weight was off of it (including the back seat and passenger seat). Use to have to pull it to start it on cold mornings .
1952 Chevy 4 door. Bought it from a farm machinery dealer for $35 and had to overhaul the engine before we got it home. When we got the crank back from the shop, it had a half inch less throw on the stroke.....? They claimed it was the right one.? We buttoned it up and I drove it that way for a couple years. It had a Powerglide with only 1 forward speed. And that behind a weak 6 banger! Needless to say the folks weren't too worried about burnouts or speeding tickets.
Great idea for a thread - my first was an '86 Bronco. Perfect year, last year of the 9" rear, and first appearance of fuel injection. Not much by way of mods, welded rear and cut fenders was all I needed! I really miss the old girl!
And to this day, I can proudly say I havn't owned a single vehicle that hasn't left the ground once or twice...

1967 Camaro RS w/ 327 3 speed and then 4 speed with lots of work on engine and tranny. No air, no electric anything, except those cool electric headlight covers. I finally upgraded the 8 track stereo to a cassette player with FM. (yeah I'm that old) Wish I still had it, but the desire for a 4x4 truck and no means to have both.....
1966 Mustang 2-door coupe, 225hp 289, 4-speed top-loader tranny. I converted the interior from blue to a black Standard interior. If I can afford it one day, I want to build another 66 but with a tube frame, 4-wheel disc brakes, Shelby hood and GT350-R front valance. All-wheel-drive would be sweet too!!
Another one would be the 68 GT500KR convertible from The Thomas Crown Affair with Pierce Brosnan!!! That car is just plain BADA$$!!!!
Actually my first vehicle was a honda 100 dirt bike. My first car was a 52 chev sedan which my uncle gave me. It had sat out behind the barn for a few years when I got it but it ran good.
1955 Bel Air coupe, 1954 Fairlane, 1962 Chevy II, 1969 Dodge Super Bee Hardtop Coupe, nothing but 4X4's since then (Jeeps, Dodge, Ford but no Chevys). The best? The Super Bee, hands down.
