Corroded wheels
I had what I think are polished aluminum wheels and they have a white power like corrosion on them. When I scraped it a little a clear "plastic" came off like a protective coating. Is there any way to clean these wheels up and maybe reseal them. I'm not afraid of elbow grease, I just don't know where to start and don't want to make things worse. Thanks

A friend of mine did his Caravan rims. You need to get the clearcoat off either chemically or otherwise. Then you can polish them up to look just like chrome (use a polishing wheel and some buffing compound)
Do not put any clearcoat on top of the wheel when you're done....just buff up when needed.
Clearcoat should be eliminated from aluminum rims, imo.
