I love my truck....but I'm not a huge fan of the stock 20" wheels for the Platinum. Actually, I really like the '09 20" Lariat Wheels and I'd love to just swap them out but I don't think the dealer would go for that.
you could always trade with someone, or just buy some Lariat take off wheels from ebay or classifieds.
but I'd recommend keeping your wheels though for resale value purposes. Someone who would want to buy a Platinum would want what comes with the actual Platinum package (those wheels), not some mismatched wheels from another F150 model. At least that's just me/my opinion....

Any ideas?
This probably would have been a situation where you would have done better working with the dealer before you took delivery.
Per my brochure, the XLT/Lariat 20" wheels are "chrome clad" which might mean they have a $5 Walmart chromed plastic wheel cover over a real wheel. You sure you'd rather have those? The Platinum wheels are polished, forged aluminum, which are probably the most expensive to produce.
I'm guessing that you may well be able to find another owner to swap wheels with you.
I dunno...maybe the dealership didn't clean them up....I'll polish them this weekend and see how I feel.
Based on what everyone is saying I guess I won't have a hard time trading them out if I still don't like them. haha
You probably know this, but you don't want to use any kind of abrasive polish on these wheels. They are gonna have a lacquer clearcoat on them which you don't want to damage or wear through.
Just wash 'em up really good, and maybe you'll get used to them. The forged construction is still a big plus, although I agree the styling is a bit busier than I like as well (so I see why you like the Lariat wheels).
It does look like the Lariat wheels are set up for rim weights (which work well but which scratch the clearcoat and eventually cause corrosion especially if you live in a winter salt area like me) whereas your Platinum wheels have no lip and use the stick on weights....this might be another plus for keeping your existing wheels.
IMHO All trucks look better with smaller wheels and are more functional. Smaller diameter wheels allow for more sidewall rubber which is better for everything a truck needs to do.
