I am "only" 40 and suffered several injuries when I was younger to both my knees (thanks to a stupid horse) and hip.
I used to laugh at all the "old timers" who complained about their joints aching during the cold winter months.
Now that I'm an "old timers" I am suffering more each year. Its turned to arthritis and doctors say I'm just 4 or 5 years away from a knee and hip replacement. Today I'm at an 8 out of 10 on the pain scale and I had to take Vicodon...am I the only one who played hard as a young man only to suffer later in life? I hate it!
most tell me to shut up but im only 25 and have scoliosis and 2 torn rotator cuffs because i thought i was superman when i was younger. i live with cronic back and shoulder problems and pain that comes and goes. im on muscel relaxers for the rest of my life to control muscle spasms in my back and am waiting till i get better insurance for my shoulder surgeries. so yes i too was a young and dumb and am now paying for it
NOt oly was I young, dumb and full of spunk, I also had some very physical jobs that were really hard on what was damaged already...resulting in the mess I live with today.
I don't quite yet have serious aliment, but my ankles are going to be shot in the next 10 years or so. And of course right now I have a job where I am on my feet for 12 hours doing a lot of walking. Sprained my ankles all the time when I played basketball and never received the right strength training or therapy. Oh well.
im 36 and walk with a cane in the winter cuzz my knees are so bad,the doc wants to "fix" them but ive seen to many folks come out of surgery in worse shape then they went in with so ive been putin it off as long as i can. i just cringe when i see a young guy on a motorcycle doin crazy stuff, after i layed mine down twice once at 70 mph and another at 50 i gess im just lucky to even be here

Well my friend I have beat myself up so bad that I am totally disabled and I am only 40,bicycles,horses,motorcycles and jetskis I liked to play hard when I was younger and never thought that the pain I had then would turn 10 fold as I got older.
I have always suffered from chronic pain though even as a kid but it never kept me down whether working or playing I always kept going and now I am paying for it.
I am 37. my left knee has days when it wants to work, and days when it says forget it,I am going to hurt like hell and lock up unexpectedly all day long. I guess it is kind of funny if you are watching me walk, walking along normal, then all of a sudden,BAM!! I almost fall on my butt because my knee locked up. I can't leave it in one position to long,or it will ache until I change positions. I went to the dr a couple years ago. the result? we can't find anything wrong!! Me knee has been this way off and on since I was 25. I can tell it is going to rain/snow days before the weather man says so because my right shoulder starts a dull ache. my kids used to ask if we could go camping on the weekend, and I would say,no it is going to be raining that weekend. they would think i was just trying to find an excuse, but the weekend comes up and it would be raining 98% of the time.
I have been an accident waiting for a place to happen......in fact,I've had two near death experiences
There isnt enough room in one message box to describe what I have had happen to me since birth...
Yes My life started with delivery and the tube wrapped around my neck.

57 years of " what's going to happen next? "
Amen, Brother!!!!
Same here. Only I'll be 54 in a few months.
Bad back. Bad neck. Bad knees.
Titanium in my back and neck. Arthritis in the knees.
And my wife will toss in "Bad Attitude"!
Work hard. Play hard. And 'pay for it' the rest of your life.
have you all got an hr.???
in '78 i was shot in the chest in a hunting accident(i was 16 and paralyzed for 11mos) and told "you'll never walk again unassisted". the bullet went through a rib, lung, and hit T-3.
in Sept '80 i went to basic training and did my time.
'84... i fell asleep on my Sportster(pine branches in places i don't know i had places) and i was stone sober. too many hrs at work. '85..a 65 Nova fell on me(crushed clavical). DO Not use cement blocks for jack stands.
'86 i ran over myself with my own skidder. knees aren't meant to be 100*'s perpindicular from your ***. 3 horrendous car wrecks from '87 to '90.
'91...stabbed in the lower chest breaking up a girl fight in a bar(punctured lung again). NEVER again! girls fight UGLY!!!
'92-'97 nada. '97 i got married. every accident i ever had i got beat about the head and neck with. Nan didn't expect me to make it to 2000.
2002, a 300lb vanity fell on me and finished me. 5 herniated, 4 compressed disks and ruined my hip.
Bottom line....7 knee surgeries, 3 hip, several back, and 1 ankle and good or bad i can still type.
i'm 46......and all i can offer for advice is DO NOT get in the middle of a girl fight. the recovery time is not worth the time it took to get beat up.
on good days i use a cane. most days it's crutches. bad days it's a wheel chair.
