I refuse to take pain killers, and pretty much any medication for that matter. I have not had surgery on any of my injuries even though the knee obviously needs it but it seems to me that mentally it would almost be like admiting defeat after all ive been through, i know that sounds stupid but thats the way it is for me. Pride is a huge motivator, i cant let the pain stop me. In fact most of the time i hide my limp (which just adds to the pain), only a small percentage of the people i know actually know how bad the pain i deal with is because i dont like to complain about it. Just my good friends and the girlfriend, because they are the ones i dont bother hiding the limp around.

Well I was going to complain about my knee, but after reading Carl's post, and seeing how Dennis is attempting to catch up some, I think I'll just say I'm grateful for Ace Bandage Company. It won't kill the pain but it sure does wonders.

I think I'll just go limp to the kitchen, grab a beer, and be grateful for what I've got.

Age 4, running with scissors, tripped and put the tip through my left shoulder, it went in one side and out the other, didn't hit anything important. Got 5 stitches on each hole, my scar collection had begun.

Age 6, laying under the car watching dad change the oil, I sat up real quick and smacked my head under the car. I got 15 stitches in the back of my head.

Age 11, I jumped my Schwinn Predator of a ramp that was taller then me, in the street of course, I landed on the front tire and flipped over the handle bars. I broke my nose, and I busted the bottoms off of my two upper front teeth.

My nose healed fine, and the bottom part of my teeth are now made of porcelain.

Age 13, I jumped off the garage roof and attempted to land on our big trampoline, I missed. I broke my left femur. The next summer I was trying to do a back flip out of our swing set. I swung up as high as I could and jumped, my sister said I landed on my head, but yet I managed to break that leg again.

Doc said leg looks just fine, I busted it right in the middle and it healed alright.

Age 15, play wrestling with my old dog Whylee, he didn't purposely bite me, but somehow I managed to tear a small chunk of my left ear off on his tooth, 4 stitches. You'd have to look real close to see its missing, its on the rear at the top edge.

Age 16, bought my 82 F100. I got ticked off one day when I was trying to get it running, so I kicked the drivers door as hard as I could. I broke the big toe on my right foot, the toenail fell of and grew back weird so it had to be permanently removed.

Me = broken toe
truck = huge dent in door

Toe healed alright, it looks weird without a nail but I've gotten use to it. I managed to pop the dent out of the door from the backside.

Age 17, helping my uncle scrap a old car when I stepped on a nail. Went through my shoe and 3/4 of the way into my right foot. They had to cut the shoe off around the nail, took 7 stitches to seal the hole. Glad I had my tetanus shot.

Age 18, working on my 96 F150, I managed to get my right thumb stuck between the belt and alternator pulley while the engine was running. It tore up the skin on my thumb, broke it in two places, and chewed the nail off. I hit my arm on the fan when I yanked my hand back, it left a nasty gash.

Thumb is healed, thumb nail is gone forever, it took 11 stitches to close the gash on my arm.

Age 18, working with a nail gun, trying to hold it in my left hand since my right thumb is broken. I managed to shoot a nail through the skin between my thumb and index finger.

Took 14 stitches total to close the gash. Needless to say thats the summer I learned to write left handed.

Age 19, drunk as hell I tried to scale the unpadded wooden basement stairs at my buddies house. I managed to get all the way up the stairs before I fell back down. Broke my right wrist and cut my head when it slammed into the wall, took 3 stitches.

The scary thing is this scar overlapped the existing scar from when I was 6, they make a perfect holy cross on the back of my head.

So as I sit now 22 years old, 64 stitches total, 8 broken bones, 2 fake teeth, 9 remaining toenails, 9 remaining fingernails, and one deformed ear.

I managed to break a bone pretty much every teenage year of my life. I've settled down and haven't had a major injury since. I haven't felt any after effects of my injuries but I'm sure they'll catch up with me one of these days.

I had kidney stones too!...anyone had that? Those were fun!

This reminds me of Jaws, when the guys were all comparing injuries on the boat.

Getting to be pretty much a whussy and not looking forward to getting a lot older. I do forsee a wheelchair somewhere in my future. And that sucks big time. I already use the little cutesy "old fart carts" at the major retailers, when I'm hurting really bad. Most times I carry myself with the cart, because it's still to embarassing to use the powered carts all the time.

You know you just got to keep on plugging along and do what you can, they told me I am going to be wheelchair bound someday and I to still use a shopping cart to hold me up as I have to much pride to use the little electric carts, but more and more I am wanting to.
I spent today in my garage cleaning and worked on a few bicycles and when I came in the house at 6:00 I was in so much pain I coudn't move and a friend of my wifes was there and offered to come over and help my wife get the house together as we are having some friends over on new yrs eve, because she saw the condition I was in and figured by today I would be bed ridden, well I am not but as I type this I can't feel my fingers and my hands are killing me but here I am plugging away at my key board one letter at a time because I refuse to give up.

Daggone, Dennis!

From your list, it appears that you were an accident, looking for a place to happen!

Falls. . . . .

I remember one time in my youth, that my Dad and I climbed onto the roof to do some work.
Well, we only had an 8 ft wooden step-ladder.
We'd climb onto the carport roof, then pull the ladder up and then leaned it against the the 'peak' of the gable end, and then climbed onto the roof of the house.

Well. . . Dad was pulling the ladder up to the carport roof, and dropped it (and the ladder fell onto it's side).
Mom and Sis were at the grocery store, and no-one was around to pick up the ladder for us.

So, being the genius that my Dad was, he says, "Son, one of us has to jump down there, and set the ladder back up. Oh, and it ain't gonna be me."

Well, being 14 and not having had 'Jump School' and not having learned to 'tuck and roll', Dad just sorta 'nudged' me off of the roof.
It was not a pretty sight.

I didn't realize it (at first), but, I had broken my right ankle and sprained my left wrist, pretty badly.

I did get the ladder up to my Dad, and I wound up sitting on the ground until he got done working on the roof.

When Mom got home, Dad told her to see 'what in the heck' was wrong with me, and 'doctor' me up.

Well, a visit to the emergency room. . . a cast. . . and a pair of crutches were in my future.

From there, it's all downhill. . . . . .

OK you will probably think I smoked my breakfast or something. But those of you with joint pain and don't like to take medicine, try WD-40. This is not a joke. Spray some on and rub it in. It takes a while to work but for most people it does. I thought it was a stupid idea when i first heard it. But I found out it has some kind of fish oil in it. Because of the fish oil it is also good for fishing. Spray all your gear with it. It takes the people smell away.

Of course it will work better on your joints if you send me $19.95 for the tip. And I will send you a "special" garage rag to rub it in with.
And for $29.95 I will also include a "special" bottle of oil to fix anything wrong with your truck. Just rub it on your engine.

Sorry BOB, I know you need the money but so do I

so I prefer to rub bacon grease on my shoulders/elbows/knees/ankles and get the dogs to lick them.
