Shifter Problem
I'm having issues getting my dads 2000 F250 XLT to shift into park. The shifter feels a lil loose in a sense and it seems to easily not want to sit in the middle of a gear on the Gear Indicator. If I carely shift it to any of these gears. It works. But I am unable to get it into park fully. When I try, it doesnt center on the P and I'm still in reverse. I have to shut the truck down in this "gear" to get my key out... and I have to start it in Neutral since it wont start in a gear. Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this?
I really appreciate any help and I would love to be able to help my pops out while Im home for the holidays.

Get on the floorboard and look on the shaft near the firewall as you wiggle the shifter. On my '96 there is a collar with two bolts that came loose. Had problems with a sloppy shifter. Tightened the bolts and tight as new now. Try that.
