Sure wish I would have found this before not replacing my dying 2G with 2 and 6 o'clock bolt holes with the 3G I clocked to 10 that had the 12 and 6 mounting holes and the RJM cable kit. Well .... $140 later I have a rebuilt 2G substandard alternater, with new charge plug of course. Will have to try and test fit the 3G again, I could not get the alt top mount into the position of that second hole, it would not line up for me, but I may not have been trying too hard. I could not find a place it was binding and gave up to drive home the same day. Glad to know the belt still fit, that was another concern of mine.
fmr9, Did you have to do any trimming of the alternater bracket like all of the instructions for the SB V8's say must be done?
Did not have to trim the 4.9. The bracket had an extra hole in it that fit the 3G perfectly. Pulley was larger and even the belt worked ok.
Good luck Frank
