I learned if the motor has lower compression it is not worth doing just the heads. I did that with the Pinto I owned. Not even a 1000 miles later I lost number 3 cyl.
Later I did my 82 ford trucks heads. The engine had good compression. I had antifreeze getting by the gasket and causing overheating. Got the heads rebuilt and had no problems.
The jeep Ihad the guides leaked bad. I did a compression test and all cyl were at 100 psi So it was notworth doing the head and guides. It would of blown a cylinder.
So Prep you can check the compression and decide about just doing the heads or a whole engine. If you have to replace the rear seals, my thoughts would be to do the whole engine. That way all seals are new and the water jackets will be cleaned. Plus later if you want to sell the truck a rebuild helps with resale.

sometimes. personally, unless i know its professionally redone i'll steer clear of a truck thats been rebuilt. depending on the K, it could mean that she's had a hard life which could be a bigger headache than necessary.
I went to SGI salvage the other day and they didnt have a single 302, or 351.
They did have a 94 ford truck as a whole, but had no record how many km's were on it.
Well preppy sorry to say but SGI and that great for older stuff i went there just to find some rims for my truck so i could put my rear summer tires on them and they dont carry anything older than 1997 due to much inventory dont know if it includes engines but....
if you're looking to win races the 302/351 is for ya i guess, but i love the 300 with all my being!! the suprised look on my cousins face when i spanked his 305 chebby with my '96 300 I6 was a sight to behold. even impressed me!!
