7mm is an adequate round to cut a small pine tree in half.
i second the vote on gamo line of air rifles, ive had a gamo shadow for about 4 years now. european break style opening, 1000fps, and i have a red dot scope on it.
I had a friend come over with a break action winchester 1000X a year or so ago. It was the nicest pellet gun i've ever shot. Even had a little kick to it and you should have seen how accurate it was! If I had to buy one now i'd either go with the winchester or the Gamo varmint or Gamo Whisper Air. Either way I love the setup they have.
They cause serious problems. MAJOR problems in the area. Most places have a price on their skins. MAybe I will be able to afford one of these wonderful sounding air-rifles after the holidays.
BTW, I second the motion of the Sheridan 5mm. Gets the squirrel every time!
Oh, yeah, I'm a pretty good shot. My neighbor got a new shotgun last summer and was trying it out. My son was two houses down ~ about 1/2 a mile. After the first shot he said to his buddy,, I wonder what Mom's shooting at? After the second shot he said,, I wonder why she missed?? After the third shot he said,, That's not my Mom!! And came home to see what was going on!! Ha! Ha!! Ha!!!

Not sure if this is for me, but yeah I can shoot whatever firearm I want, to rid my land from whatever vermin is on it,,, including my neighbor's dogs!
My experience with women shooters is they are better than men once they get down the basics. Why?....no macho preconceptions.
I've shot a few dogs myself, they belonged to a local sheriff deputy. The state trapper gave me the go ahead after repeated wrnings to the deputy. Well after 17 injured sheep there were two dead rottwielers.
