Charles County, Maryland.

Ummmmmmmmm. . . . yes. We're in the U.S. (the last time I looked)!

Just a county regulation. (We used to be considered rural, or farm/agricultural. Now, we're 'suburban'.) Heck, it's still 'country' here.

Still. . . the last time that the regulation went before the county commissioners, we could still discharge firearms within the county, but not air rifles/pistols.

funds, well, a NV scope I would spend a bit on, something I would eventaully transfer to a diff gun. (high powered rifle in use for home defense) for an air rifle, maybe up to about 200 bucks or so.

the nutria are skitish of the lights, they go underwater when you shine em. and where we live, reallyh ard to see even with a full moon, too much ambient light from baton rouge 15 miles away and from some of the other msaller towns that are a bit closer....plus my folks live i na subdivision... :/ otherwise I would be asking for a recommended shotgun...

Huh? I'd much rather have a large caliber semi-auto handgun for home defense....oh yeah, I do.

If you want a long gun for home defense, gotta be a shotgun. Pump action....probably the one sound that everyone knows and would take heed of.

I agree...a long gun would be my LAST choice for home defense, especially scoped...not something quick.

As a standard rule of thumb it always goes 1: Shotgun 2: Handgun (if your proficient with it) and lastly 3: Rifle...

I will ,however, to my hypocrisy tell you I have a Win. Packer .30-.30 nearest my bed.

(REVERSE HIJACK ALERT)

Diana RWS model 36, single pump (barrel break) 1100 FPS .177 cal pellet rifle.

Mount a scope FOR AIR RIFLE USE. It will destroy a non-air rifle scope instantly.

I think you will be successful with it, I have 2!

It's also a bitchen rabbit gun.

I have a .22 and a 30/30 and a 7mm sitting in a rack by my bedroom window. Depending on what enters my yard, determines which one I grab!! Sure makes my Honey wake up startled when I squeeze one off, out the window, in the middle of the night!! No wonder the poor guy had a heart attack two years ago!!! That 7mm sure is loud inside the house!! Ha! Ha!! Ha!!!

Wow, if it understand this, you CAN shoot a firearm?? .22 but not an airgun in your county?? You should check the Hunting regs to see if they are a protected species or not.

If there are regs on them,, they maybe more restrictive than houshold pest control. as to weapon choice. trapping etc.

OK, But can you hit the broad side of the barn?

BTW, I second the motion of the Sheridan 5mm. Gets the squirrel every time!

I think that 7mm is an adequate round for Nutria.
