Waterpump?

so the two gaskets that came with my waterpump... there is an o-ring and a flat gasket. Does the oring go to the inlet pipe then?

Well last time I did a WP it had 2 round 0-ring's one for the lower rad elbow (about 2.5 inches in diameter) and one for the heater hose fitting (3/4in) then a formed o-ring for the mating surface of the water pump to block. can you describe the flat gasket?

Ok, I have the oring for the heater hose, and then I have a flat gasket and another o-ring that are the same size.
Both the thermostat area and the inlet have a recessed lip that could fit both.
The old inlet appears to have the flat one in it. (or it could be the oring thats just smashed).
I wouldn't imagine they would use a oring for the thermostate?

is the flat gasket rubber or some other material? Maybe the flat gasket (what I would call a square cut (cross section view) o-ring) is for the thermostat and the round o-ring is for the inlet.
