Runs hot + temp varies
I had a leaking waterpump on my '86 F150/301 EFI. I installed a new waterpump, and went ahead and installed a new thermostat as well. It doesn't leak now, but the temp. varies when it's driven. When it first heats up, sometimes the temp. will reach the "L" in "NORMAL" on the water temp. gauge, and it will like a few minutes of driving for the temp. to settle back to exactly halfway on the gauge. It doesn't ever "overheat", and the gauge never bottoms out, but sometimes it gets a little hot. Is this something to be concerned about? I'm pretty sure I didn't put the thermostat in backwords, so what else could cause this, if it is a problem?
