94 4.9L Head question

I have a 94 f-150 with an inline 6 that is blowing a lot of white smoke. The smoke smells like antifreeze. Basically what i am wondering is if its possible that it is only the head gasket or if its something more serious like a cracked head or something else. The truck has 122 thousand miles on it, it has never overheated on me, about a month after i got it the water pump started to drip so i put a new one on and about 4 months after that it started smokeing. It has been like this for about 400 miles any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Ben

Ben-Stop driving it and pull the head. If you are lucky, you will see where the gasket is blown. Don't keep driving it with antifreeze going into the cylinders. You may cause more damage.

Is there anything special i should know? Or anything that will be problematic? Also when reassembling are the rockers on these adjustable or do i just torque to a certain point then finish assembly?

If you cannot see where the gasket has failed, then perhaps you have a crack somewhere. You would have to take the head in to a shop to be tested. As for the rockers,I'm not sure the specs.

Rocker arms are not adjustable they torque to a given number look it up in the manual. If it is a blown head gasket at least have the head surfaced. If you cannot see the gasket problem then you need to have the head magnfluxed for cracks.

regardless, if you can see a crack or not, you need to have the head magnafluxed.

do a compression test so you can see which cylinder or cylinders are giving the problem.

lube everything down with rust buster before you begin.

that is one heavy head so be careful.

take pics and bag and label everything.

good luck.

Has anyone here used the reconditioned heads from the zone or oreilly's? I am wondering if they do a good job or not because i can't have the truck down for any real long period since its my only vehicle right now.

The zones stuff is junk. I have had there own sales staff tell me that. O'reilly's is better. I really don't trust any of them to far you want to check everything real close before assembly. If your head is cracked I would probably go the salvage yard route and have it checked and valve job done and surfaced.
