I have a 2000 f-150 4.2/5speed 2wd and recently it has started to let out a puff of oil smoke upon startup. it only happens after it's been sitting for about a week and doesn't use any oil between changes. I know on older engines this was a classic sign of valve guide seals going bad but i didn't know if anyone else has this problem. I have heard a lot of claims for the valvoline max life but haven't tried it yet. Thoughts?
it's white smoke, i was thinking valve guide seals but didn't know if there were any common issues related to this. valve guide seals stink because they are just this little rubber boot but you have to take the head off to change them.
