I have an 06 F-350 CC LB 6.0L w/ 103k miles. Here's the problem... When I intitially start the truck either in the a.m. or after it sits for a few hours it's angry. It compares to when it's cold out and you forget to plug it in. Along with that there's just alittle bit of white-"ish" smoke from the tail pipe. After I let the truck sit about 10 minutes idling, it runs fine w/ no smoke. This is doing it even when it 97*F outside. Would like to hear some thoughts so I know where to proceed.
No loss of coolant and nothing coming out of the cap. As for my oil change it's at 3k-5k miles. I'm getting close to the 5k since my last oil change. I have the stuff do change it at home and plan on doing this tomorrow. Also, I'm using Rotella T and ,this is gonna sound bad, but I think it's 15w40. I will check tomorrow when I get home to see what I have.
A scangauge is very well worth the money. I found all kinds of issues that I otherwise had no idea was going on. An excellent tool to keep tabs on the health of you 6.0. If your not losing any coolant and remedies such as rev-x and synthetic oil make no difference, then I'd say your FICM is suspect. It's an easy do-it-yourself fix.
