Is there a way to make the keyless entry only beep on the 2nd push of the button? The reason I ask is I have to work in the middle of the night and I hate having my truck beep in the middle of the night. I think I would be annoyed if I had a neighbor do that all the time and I dont want to be "that guy"!!
In my 05 explorer it would lock or unlock without a beep and only beep on the 2nd push.
what kind of vehicle are you referring to? sounds like maybe you have an aftermarket system installed and thats what is doing it. if so, they are usually very easy to program.

Yup, that IS embarassing. I also work graveyard and what's even worse is when you hit the remote unlock and your headlights shine into your neighbor's windows! Yeah, they love that feature of my truck! LOL!

Welcome to FTE!!
I don't remember anything related to that in the manuals.. It maybe built in to the module... But since it maybe two separate modules (one for the CJB and one for the Security module)...could it be possible to clip the Dk Blue wire coming from the Sec. module to the horn circuit? Maybe someone else has tried already. The only real down fall I see as of now would be the loss of the "Panic alarm/truck finder" button (other than flashing headlights).

Sounds like he's referring to the factory Remote keyless entry?

this is also programmable to not happen. if you look in the manual, there is a very easy way to turn that off. it is just a matter of pushing the lock/unlock buttons on the driver door a certain pattern. its called perimeter lighting in the manual.
as for the locking horn honk, on my 06 it only does it with 2 pushes of the button. thats what would lead me to think that there is some type of aftermarket system tied into it, causing it to honk every time. some aftermarket systems still allow for you to use the factory FOB, but what would be causing his troubles is the extra brain controller for the aftermarket system.... again, this is just a quick thought.

Hey Mattd17, I don't have the keyless entry doorpad on my XLT, just the lock/ unlock buttons on the remote. From what I see in the manual, with what I have, all I can do is increase/decrease the length of time the lights stay on, didn't see any way to keep them off when unlocking the door using the remote.
no problem... i hope it works for you. i tried it, and it took a couple tries to get the buttons pushed just right, but i leave mine on since i like the feature..... hope all works well for you.
am I understanding your post correctly? so your truck beeps every time you hit the lock or unlock button? that's a new one for me.
my truck will only honk if I hit the lock button 2 times, and the horn will honk 2 times if I hit the lock button 2 times when a door is open
I love that headlight darkness sensor. I think it's a nice safety feature to be able to turn the headlights on at night just by hitting the lock/unlock buttons
My truck did that because it had a Karr aftermarket alarm that works in conjunction with the OEM key FOB. There is a way to do it. I can't recall. You turn the ignition to on, but don't start the motor, then hold down the valet button. Something like that.

Yeah man, gotta do a bunch of stuff in just a few seconds to disable it. The neat thing is, once it's disabled, you can enable or disable it just by 2 pushes of the unlock button on your remote. It will switch back and forth between the two modes. That way, you're in control of when you want to use it. Thanks again.
