My 1999 F150 4 wheel drive engages just fine when in the shop (when it is warm) but when outside in the cold (when it is needed in the snow) it will not engage. The 4x4 light on the dash comes on, but no action to the front action. Appears the actuating switch doesn't have enough vacuum to fully engage when it is cold. Any ideas?
I was having the same problem, I crawled under mine and put a little bit of lube on the actuator shaft and it works just fine now. You may try that its cheap and easy?
