this is the five speed I installed in our 77 ford custom, my question is how to build a pan to cover it,the highest point is four inches, I have a Donner truck for the floor pan(console) but what about the rugs,is there any direct correlation to the extra hight and the rug not fitting. I ask now be cause I am not to far from getting to the interior.JNT
I assume you cut the hole in the floor based on it looks a lot smaller than the Factory hole would be. The rolled groove pretty much represents the factory hole. The edge is probably 3/4" inside the groove. Also, there are a bunch of 5/16'ish screw holes around the perimeter to hold on the Factory removable Trans cover.
However, I think this is where the carpet will not fit. The difference is like 5" for your original and 8" is what the Factory trans cover hieght. When you look up in the catalogs there is two different sizes for carpet and rubber mats 5" or 8". something like that
Also factory used a big green sponge around the shifter, between the trany and the bottom of the floor board. Maybe 8" Daimeter. Sound deadener
I'ld go to the Junk yard and find the cover, Foam, screws and screw clips.
