Why don't you just give John Wood, or BTS a call, and ask the experts? Either one of those fellows will have a pretty good clue as to whats really up with your trans.
Good luck,
Richard
I think i would also refer to mark as an expert, taking into consideration he is a former ford transmission engineer. dont ya think?
Nhill, personally I don't know Mark, but I do know both Brian & John. I've spent $$ at both their shops, and place a high value on both of their opinions.
Not to discredit Mark, but Ford OEM transmissions need help, and the best places to go to for that help (at least in my opinion) is either John Wood, or BTS.

Richard, i understand. i would feel the same way if i spent money and know brian and john. i do not know mark either. however, i think that a man who worked as a tranny engineer for 17 years would know how a tranny works and how to diagnose them. you must also keep in mind that ford's transmissions dont necessary need work, for the average SD owner, they may suffice well. ford cant please everyone. my factory trans lasted 203,500 miles of pulling a 10K trailer every day. its all in maintance and preventative measures.
Sorry I have been away for the weekend. Thank you all for the various input. Mark or Ray, do you think I could get it rolling in 4th gear? I hate the thought of bringing it to a shop especially since it seems to be a random issue. Just not sure what to start with for diagnostics. Hate to just start trowing $$ at it.
