Hand shifter replacement?
Spouse took out the overdrive button in F250. Actual overdrive button is ok, but the plastic housing for the button is busted. Now the questions:
First question: Can the plastic housing on the hand shifter where the overdrive button is located be replaced?
Second question: If question 1 can not be done is the hand shifter of the 1997 be replaced with one from a 1996.
Thanks, REM.

I have read somewhere that it can be replaced, but maybe TJ is right.

When I said "not that I know of", I should have said "I have no idea!"

ford does not offer a repair kit for that problem, you get a new metal handle with the plastic cup. you re-use your button and end cap

When Mine broke off I had to replace the entire handle and reuse the button...Its been a year or so but I dont think its too expensive 40-50 bucks I think or maybe it was 80 ahh heck I dont remember. Not too bad to change out...I wish they made som sort of shims or something because my handle is loose as a goose has lots of play in it and makes it difficult to shift down.
