The book says to remove the turbo. Federal trucks it can be done without removing the turbo. cali trucks are a different story. I have heard it can be done but Kawa jsut went thru this. PM him he can give you some pointers
I just completed the installation of fule transfer pump on my 97 Cali mode.
I did not take off the turbo.
I took me 5 month too complete, well not really but.
It will take a lot of patience and some specialty tools, flexible ratchet, extensions, flexible cord( like the one used in dremel kit), socket for banjo bolt cut off all but 1/2 inch. Braking the bolt loose is much easier than getting it completely out.
Your left hand will have bruises after you are done since you need to insert your hand beneath the pedestal and EBPV valve with its rod will be in the way.
I will try and snap a few pics of my tools used, crap just remember my digital camera is on a loan.
I should get it back in a few days.
Also, I took it off by myself but it will require 2 people to install it, at least in my case. I was usiing a dewalt drill with a flexible cable attached to a socket and slowly running it and my buddy was applying pressure on a banjo bolt, that was the only way we got a tread started and got it tight.
good luck.
Now that I look back, I would take me probably 6 hours total to do it all over again.
Not 20 that it actually took the first time.
