My '70 has small allen set screws in the *****. The headlight switch, you have to remove the **** and shaft as a unit. There's a small button on the headlight switch you can push that will release the ****.

Garth, some of the older ***** are held on by a spring action Z shaped piece of metal and have to have something pressed against it to releave the tention and make the hole round and it should come off.
There has to be a better way to describe that.

In the still cool hours of the night, you can hear chevys rusting away.
Ford had a few different ideas here and couldn't decide which was better so they used them all.
1. There's a little button on top of the light switch that you have to reach under the dash and push down on. The light switch shaft, which the **** is molded onto will pull out if you hold the button in.
2. The choke **** is molded onto the shaft which is crimped onto the cable. Short of breaking something, the whole thing comes and goes as a unit.
3. There's a little clip on the back and inside the ww switch ****. I haven't taken this one off yet, but Haynes says there's a "hooked" tool to reach in back there. A paper clip might do it?
The small screwdriver thing works. There has to be a gazillion people who do it this way. If you're limber, lay on your back with your feet on the floor of the garage, ground and use a flashlight to see where to hook the "tool".
