Fumes in my Excursion
I was curios, the last couple of days ive been noticing a diesel smell inside my truck when you first start it up. I haven't noticed it before. Since I work with furnace heating oil everyday, I am used to the smell, so when I can notice it, there must be a leak somewhere. Any sugestions? thanks gtadim

The very first time I replaced my fuel filter, I put the gasket on the wrong way. When I started it up, it naturally sprayed fuel all over the inside of the engine compartment. I cleaned it up as best I could, but for about two weeks, every time I ran the heater or defroster, I would catch a whiff of diesel. It faded away after about three weeks. You might have a fuel leak.
PS I also had another diesel Ex that had a leaky fuel bowl. Well, that was the reason also that I smelled diesel inside the cabin. Once I replaced the o-rings, no more smell.

See the thread "Help! Fuel leak" around the top of the forum, you might have the same problem, I smelled fuel before I noticed my leak. Before you tackle the O-rings, try just operating the drain valve a couple times, bought me a little time. Good luck.
