<HR style="COLOR: #666666" SIZE=1><TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width="100%">HI guys,I hope there is someone out there that will help me . I have a 2006 f350 6.0 My question is how much exhaust is ok to leak from the catalatic conveter and exhaust pipe connections and the seams on the muffler and every pipe connection . I returned it to the dealer with exhaust fumes in cab they fixed two bolts on header and the "y" pipe should I be concerned about the other leaks ?
Hi Storm The Y pipe was changed and two bolts on manafold , I do not smell fumes in cab after that repair. My concern are the other leaks, how do they effect the fuel MPG or any other fuctions ? I am a Plumber and I did a 2lb smoke test on exhaust system and everything leaked even all the seams in the muffler ! Thanks Chuck
It'll effect it, make annoying hiss sound.. I would take it to a welder if you knwo one and just ask him to patch weld it.. Shouldn't cost much.. Over time the seams on the stock systems will break down.. If you are still under your 3 year/36k mile warranty then I'd make ford fix the entire system. Otherwise just have a welder patch weld it right quick.. If you were near me I could do it in minutes.. Just simple covering of the seals..
Thank for your input I will bring it back to Ford , I am also a welder I just don't want to let Ford off the hook. MY MPG jumped up 4MPG when they fixed the first leaks !!Thanks again Chuck
Your a welder! So if they say anything stupid.. Explain to them that weld points dont break down in x number of months or x number of miles.. Throw environmental lingo at them about the effects on weld points.. Either way it shouldn't be leaking like that this early..
