i recently installed an edge juice w/attitude on my 2005 lariat, i know edge is the devil on this site but heres my problem. i put the egt probe in the exhaust manifold like the instructions said everything was working well for about 500 miles and now my egt temp on my monitor will jus randomly jump to between 1300 and 2000, now i know this cant be right cause when i go to start my truck in the morning it will say that my exhaust is this hot before i even start my engine any ideas what could be causing this?
the EGT is just a probe that sends a signal to the edge, and it has either gone bad or check the wiring you did when you installed it and make sure nothing is shorted or opened. If the probe is in the exaust manifold look to make sure the wiring has not been on the exaust.
I was having problems with my EGT gage jumping around when I adjusted the LED dimmer control for my gages, as well as one gage going dark before the other two. I removed it and wired the LED gage illumination directly into the dash illumination circuit which is controlled by the OEM dimmer. Both problems solved...
It may be that you have a similar interference issue, or as stated above component failure.
The previous owner of my truck had the same problem with the edge. He called them up and they sent him a new egt probe. He never installed it but i bought the edge from him, (bought the truck at a dealer), and I installed the new probe. I ran it for about 1000 miles and it worked fine for me. Anyway give edge a call and ask for a new probe.
I had the exact same problem. It turned out to be the two wires that are under the hood were not tight. Near the top of the silver breaded egt sensor wire you will find I believe a yellow and a red wire. Make sure both of them are really tight. If this doesnt work, you have a bad probe.
