Loud Clicking Sound When Changing Temp

Whenever I change the temperature from hot to cold in my 2003 Explorer XLT, I hear a loud clicking sound from the dash near the windshield for a few seconds and then it goes away. This has just started doing this and fortunately the heat and cool air still both work. Any ideas on what this could be?
